What a year!

Historyonics was a blast to make and I was so chuffed for all the crew and cast that the Royal Television Society recognised it for an original drama award.

Since then we have made series nine, ten, eleven and twelve of DIY SOS which shows no sign of keeling over and passing away - so thanks for your ongoing support.

I returned to the team at City Hospital and loved it. People seemed surprised that with so much prime time work for me that I should choose to do a day time show but I've never understood that really. I love the format, the people, think it's a great programme - much more complicated than people appreciate - and besides one of my very best mates Peter Hayton is exec producer! I will always choose to do programmes I love rather than just because it may have a bigger profile.

By the way we start again on City Hospital April 4th so please tune in.

Also working with Nadia, Jeremy and Roger is such a laugh - why wouldn't I do it.

Obviously Comic Relief does Fame Academy caused a bit of a stir - millions joined in to boo, cheer and hiss at the screen and help raise a shed load of cash for comic relief. Red Nose day was a massive success and you should all be very proud of what you have achieved.

Have started work on Departure Lounge - an all new travel series coming to BBC1 in the summer - can't tell you much about it yet - in fact probably shouldn't have told you that but if anyone asks, you know nothing, OK?

This last year has been very special what with my house being finished, work being fun and fantastic, new friends through fame academy, getting to meet up with old friends again. A special thank you and much love to Boo who made me smile and laugh so much this year - to Iain and Rhodri the best of friends - to Annie for pointing out I had to work on my interpersonal skills - to Richard for making me realise I hadn't completely succeeded. To my brother John, my hero and to all my friends who have such patience with my ridiculous lifestyle and small brain.

To Kate and Hillary who got me through it all.

And just one last thought - this year was the tenth red nose day and when all the money is in around 400 million pounds will have been raised for the most vulnerable people around the world and here in the UK.

Richard Curtis and Kevin Cahill along with their most splendid team are responsible for this. Isn't it time Richard and Kevin had their principles troubled by the offer of a Lordship title? I can think of no-one more deserving. And no-one better to sit in the Lords and be our conscience. They'll hate me for this!
